Serengeti National Park

Serengeti National Park is a large wildlife conservation area located in northern Tanzania, extending into southwestern Kenya. Established in 1951, it covers approximately 14,750 square kilometers (5,700 square miles) and is renowned for its diverse ecosystems, iconic wildlife, and the annual Great Migration.

The park is characterized by vast grasslands, savannahs, woodlands, and riverine forests. It is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros), as well as numerous other species of mammals, birds, and reptiles.

One of the most notable features of Serengeti National Park is the Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and other herbivores move in search of food and water, creating a stunning spectacle. The park has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of its outstanding natural values and commitment to wildlife conservation.

Serengeti National Park is a popular destination for safari enthusiasts, offering a range of activities such as game drives, balloon safaris, and walking safaris. The park plays a crucial role in the conservation of African wildlife and ecosystems, and it is a key component of the larger Serengeti ecosystem, which includes adjoining reserves and protected areas.
